Kids have more fun with QuickStart than they do with other approaches to the game because QuickStart is real tennis. Instead of pulling at the grass while waiting their turn to hit balls, kids are on the court in an actual match. Real tennis means real competition. And competition means tournaments.
Junior Team Tennis is expanding its coed, team-based league to include both 8-and-under and 10-and-under groups. As in other youth sports, kids will register, learn to play on a team of their peers.
QuickStart Junior Tennis gives kids the foundation and the confidence that could let them advance to the championship-level Junior Team Tennis play.
The purpose of tournaments isn't to crown champions or to establish rankings but to help kids learn strategy and tactics by actually playing matches. The more matches kids play, the more they learn about the game.
Many 8-and-under and 10-and--under tournaments (run by USTA and non-USTA organizations) will now use the QuickStartformat, including the new court sizes, net height, racquets and balls and the new scoring system. In one day of tournament play, kids will compete in matches variety of opponents.
